Bakrie’s New Manoeuvre in DPR

A meeting of elite of Golkar Party at Bakrie Tower last night has decided to exchange the positions of Setya Novanto and Ade Komaruddin in the House of Representatives (DPR). Ade will become the new House Speaker, while Novanto will return to his old position as Head of Golkar Faction in the House. Disgusting!

Lawsuit against Effendi Textindo’s Bankruptcy Curators

One of the creditors of PT Effendi Textindo, Ngudi Tri Lestari, filed a lawsuit against the former’s bankruptcy curators. Ngudi Tri Lestari supposedly found defects on the asset auction process that caused the creditor losses. In addition to suing the curators, Ngudi Tri Lestari also sued PT Innovindo Bumi Mandiri as the winning bidder and the Serpong State Property and Auction Office (KPKNL), and the Tangerang Land Office.

Another Lawsuit from Chuck Suryosumpeno

The former Chief of the Maluku High Court (Kajati Maluku) Chuck Suryosumpeno denied the claims of the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) that the former was punished because he was involved in the embezzlement of Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance (BLBI) assets worth Rp1.9 trillion. Feeling unfairly treated, Chuck filed a report against the Director V of the AGO’s Solicitor General for Supervision (Jamwas) Resiana Napitupulu to the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim Polri) accusing the latter of defamation.

Novanto Resigns, Next?

Golkar lawmaker Setya Novanto has on Wednesday, Dec 16, submitted his resignation as speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) in the middle of a process at the Ethics Council of DPR (MKD). MKD read out Novanto’s letter after nine out of 17 council members handed down their verdict leading to dismissal of the controversial speaker.

Arrivederci Novanto?

Ethics Council of the House of Representatives (DPR) has listened to opinion of 15 out of 17 members regarding the verdict for House Speaker Setya Novanto this afternoon. Interestingly, six lawmakers from the so-called Red-and-White Coalition (KMP) found Novanto of committing serious violations of code of conduct. Looks like that this is a tactical move from the coalition led by Golkar Party.

Wawan Indrawan is Free

A surprising news came from the Corruption Court of the Bandung District Court. The panel of judges acquitted a defendant of a corruption case. This time, the lucky person is Wawan Indrawan, the former Head of the General Division of the PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Barat dan Banten Tbk (BJBR).

2016 Outlook: Legislation

Throughout 2015, the House of Representatives (DPR) ratified 15 laws, of which only 2 are parts of the 39 laws that was planned for enactment as per the 2015 National Legislation Program (Prolegnas). Suffice it to say, the DPR failed to perform in 2015. They have created for themselves a huge backlog of work. And so the question is, how will they perform in 2016?

The Arrest of Totok Ary Prabowo

The former Regent of Temanggung Totok Ary Prabowo, who is wanted in connection with the 2004 educational funds graft case, was finally arrested. He was at Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Totok was handed over to the Attorney General on Saturday last week.

Extension of PKPU for Panghegar Kana Legacy

PT Panghegar Kana Legacy was in a period of Suspension of Debts Payment (PKPU) when it requested for an extension of PKPU status for another 90 days. The Company said that it wanted to complete the process of welcoming a new investor. This request was approved by the creditors.

Nazaruddin’s Indictment

On December 10, 2015, the Corruption Court of the Central Jakarta District Court held a hearing on the money laundering case of former Democratic Party treasurer Muhammad Nazaruddin. The crime Nazaruddin allegedly committed over the period of 2010-2011 with the value of transactions reaching Rp627.86 billion.
