Amendment of Mining Contracts
The government has on Wednesday (Dec 23) signed amendment of mining contracts, consisted of nine contract of works (COWs) and 12 coal contract of works (CCOWs). Contractors agreed to use the prevailing laws for items related to the State revenues, except for the corporate income tax, which still use the nailed down system (30-35%).
Choel Mallarangeng and the Case of Hambalang
The notorious corruption case related to development of the Sports School (P3SON) in Hambalang continues to develop. Former Democratic Party politicians Anas Urbaningrum and Andi Alfian Mallarangeng have been thrown into prison for their involvement in the case, and now the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has a new suspect: Andi Zoelkarnaen Mallarangeng.
Solaris Prima v. Syariah Mandiri and Kutilang Paksi Mas
The dispute concerning a breach of contract between PT Solaris Prima Energy (Solaris) and PT Bank Syariah Mandiri (BSM) entered the stage of mediation. This agreement was decided by the panel of judges of the Central Jakarta District Court during the hearing held on December 17, 2015. Both companies must use the 40 days given by the judges to agree on a win-win solution.
Legislative Journal: The Bill on Tax Amnesty
After going through a variety of issues in the past two plenary sessions, on December 15, 2015 the House of Representatives (DPR) finally decided to include the Bill on Tax Amnesty into the 2016 National Legislation Program (Prolegnas). Only two political party factions, the Democratic Party and Gerindra, are against the inclusion of the bill.

The panel of judges at the Corruption Court of the Central Jakarta District Court finally read the verdict on the graft case of Otto Cornelis (OC) Kaligis. Kaligis was found guilty of bribing the judges and the registrar of the State Administrative Court of Medan (PTUN) medan.

A meeting of elite of Golkar Party at Bakrie Tower last night has decided to exchange the positions of Setya Novanto and Ade Komaruddin in the House of Representatives (DPR). Ade will become the new House Speaker, while Novanto will return to his old position as Head of Golkar Faction in the House. Disgusting!
Lawsuit against Effendi Textindo’s Bankruptcy Curators
One of the creditors of PT Effendi Textindo, Ngudi Tri Lestari, filed a lawsuit against the former’s bankruptcy curators. Ngudi Tri Lestari supposedly found defects on the asset auction process that caused the creditor losses. In addition to suing the curators, Ngudi Tri Lestari also sued PT Innovindo Bumi Mandiri as the winning bidder and the Serpong State Property and Auction Office (KPKNL), and the Tangerang Land Office.
Another Lawsuit from Chuck Suryosumpeno
The former Chief of the Maluku High Court (Kajati Maluku) Chuck Suryosumpeno denied the claims of the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) that the former was punished because he was involved in the embezzlement of Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance (BLBI) assets worth Rp1.9 trillion. Feeling unfairly treated, Chuck filed a report against the Director V of the AGO’s Solicitor General for Supervision (Jamwas) Resiana Napitupulu to the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim Polri) accusing the latter of defamation.
