On Corruption in Langkat : Demands

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) ‘s third sting operation in 2022 ensnared then Regent of Langkat, Terbit Rencana Peranginangin (Golkar). Terbit is the 16th regional head of North Sumatera embroiled in a corruption scandal in less than a decade. But Terbit’s arrest reveals crimes that are more horrific than “mere” corruption. With the help and support of many people, including his own son, Terbit has consciously committed a gross violation of human rights. The crimes are being investigated by the police with the help of National Commission on Human Rights. In KPK case, separately, trial of the defendants started in June 2022 and far from media coverage, the prosecutors had read their demands during the latest hearing.

The country’s largest ICT retailer Erajaya Swasembada (ERAA) said its unit–Erajaya Digital–opened 40 new outlets in Java, Sumatra, Sulawesi, and Kalimantan, attracting participation of partners and local investors, through Erafone Cloud Retail Partner program. ERAA targets to add 500 outlets by end this year.
