Comm General (police) Ari Dono is scheduled to be sworn in as new vice chief of the national police, replacing Syafruddin, who has been appointed minister of state apparatus and bureaucracy reform by President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo this week. This is pretty much in contrast to the name repeatedly mentioned by House Speaker and Golkar politician Bambang Soesatyo.

The General Election Commission (KPU) has just published the temporary list of lawmaker candidates (DCS) who will compete in the 2019 legislative election. The publication is aimed at collecting feedback from the public as obligated by the Election Law No. 7/2017 before the KPU determine the final list of lawmaker candidates (DCT) and announce the list on September 14-20, 2018. So, let’s sort out some interesting names. Let’s start with six electoral regions (Dapil) in West Java, the largest province in the country in terms of population; and the capital city of Jakarta.
On the National Strategy for the Prevention and Eradication of Corruption
Towards the end on July 2018, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo promulgated the President Regulation (Perpres) No. 54/2018 on National Strategy for the Prevention of Corruption. On August 15, 2018, several officials of the responsible Ministries gathered to discuss the implementation of the regulation.

Corruption Journal: North Sumatera and Hulu Sungai Tengah Graft Case
We all know that the bribery case in North Sumatera implicating the disgraced governor Gatot Pujo Nugroho caused a lot of damages to the province and had led to several other investigations, including allegation of bribes for the members of the province’s DPRD. Earlier this year, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named 38 new suspects in the case. The suspects were detained in the past week. Separately, in the case of bribery involving the disgraced regent of Hulu Sungai Tengah one Abdul Latif, the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court have read their verdict for the bribee and the intermediary in the case.
Jokowi, Kalla, and Cabinet Reshuffle
Minister of State Apparatus & Bureaucracy Reform (MenPAN-RB) Asman Abnur, who is also a PAN politician, has publicly tendered his resignation from the Working Cabinet. To replace him, the President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo made Deputy Chief of the National Police (POLRI) Comr. Gen. Syafruddin the new MenPAN-RB.

The General Election Commission (KPU) has just announced that the two presidential pairs of candidates have passed their medical test. So, we can safely say that there’ll be a rematch between Jokowi and Prabowo in the 2019 race. This time the incumbent is accompanied by KH Ma’ruf Amin, and the contender with Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno. In a related development, Prabowo has made the former military (TNI) commander General (ret) Djoko Santoso as the head of his campaign team. Vice President Jusuf Kalla, meanwhile, declined the offer to become the head of Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin campaign team
