Supervising the Election Supervisor (2)

As predicted, the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) gave up on investigating the allegation that Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno had paid PAN and PKS Rp500 billion each as dowry for becoming Prabowo Subianto’s running mate. With said decision, the allegation has vanished into thin air.

Mar’uf on the Economy

Some underestimated the capabilities of Mar’uf Amin, running mate of incumbent president Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo in next year’s election. The senior cleric, known as sharia economic expert, however, has started to show his preference on where the country should be taken to.

Supervising the Election Supervisor

The Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) is under the spotlight, not just because of their investigation into Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno case, but also because of the recent statements and their decision to accept ex-graft convicts as lawmaker candidates in the 2019 legislative election.

2019 Race: Before the Storm?

Pencak Silat brought together President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and his rival in the 2019 presidential race Prabowo Subianto. Both men joined in embracing the gold medalist Hanifan Yudani Kusuma and at an instant, Indonesia’s digital sphere exploded with gleeful reactions.

PKS-Gerindra’s Bizarre Relation

PKS thought the vacant Jakarta vice governor position would be theirs in exchange for accepting Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno as Prabowo’s running mate in the 2019 race. But that’s not the case. PKS must still fight for the said position since the leaders of Gerindra’s Jakarta chapter also want the vice governorship. This is not the first time Gerindra has shown greed by overtaking positions allocated for PKS. But after all of those betrayals, PKS still remain Gerindra’s most loyal ally.

Sandiaga, Bawaslu’s Investigation & SBY’s Decision?

The Deputy Secretary General of the Democratic Party Andi Arief has once more failed to answer the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu)’s summon for a questioning (Aug. 27). He’s been asked to answer questions on his accusation that Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno had given Rp500 billion each to PAN and PKS as dowry for becoming Prabowo Subianto’s running mate. Has Andi Arief deliberate ignored the summons per the advise of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY)? Has there been a compromise between SBY and his Democratic Party with Prabowo-Sandi? Will this push the Bawaslu into closing their investigation?

The Asian Games & Jokowi 2019

Indonesia has passed Iran and is now in the 4th position of the 2018 Asian Games medal ranking table. Indonesian athletes competing in Pencak Silat helped Indonesia greatly with a clean sweep of the gold medals. With this achievement Indonesia has surpassed its gold medal collection target set by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo. This is also Indonesia’s best achievement in the history of its participation in the Asian Games.

The Anti-Jokowi Campaign

It’s now clear that the rivals of the incumbent President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo will continue to try to erode the latter’s electability through the so-called #2019GantiPresiden movement. The movement is basically a campaign against Jokowi, i.e., a pro Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno’s campaign, and it has been held even before the campaign period officially started next month.
