President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo reiterated that, for now, he would not issue a government regulation in lieu of law (Perppu) to replace the revised Law on the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The President said he wanted to see the performance of the new KPK before making any decision.

Jokowi, Ahok & the Reforms in Pertamina

The new President Commissioner of state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina (Persero) Basuki Tjahaja Purnama a.k.a Ahok met with President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday (Dec. 9). Ahok went to the Palace with Pertamina’s President Director Nicke Widyawati. They discussed, among others, the imports of oil, gas, and petrochemicals that has been weighing the trade balance.

Amending the Election Law

The House of Representatives (DPR) has set 50 bills as their prioritized legislation for next year. One of the 50 bills included in the 2020 National Legislation Program (Prolegnas) is the amendment of the Election Law No. 7/2017. The amendment of the Election Law will determine, among others, whether or not the presidential election and the legislative election would be held simultaneously in 2024. The Law 10/2016 on Regional Election also governs the implementation of simultaneous regional elections in 2024 across the country.
