The conflict between the Democratic Party led by Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) and the other Democratic Party led by Moeldoko looked as though it was coming to a close. Both warring factions agreed to hold a mediation arranged by the District Court of Central Jakarta (PN Jakpus). AHY, however, did not come to the mediation session held on Tuesday (May 11) at the PN Jakpus. It forced the Court to postpone the mediation for a week.

Military Procurement: South Korea’s Project

The 5th Deputy of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) Jaleswari Pramodhawardani, in an interview with Media Indonesia, revealed that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo had asked his underlings to not abandon on-going partnerships in military and defense programs, including the partnership with South Korea. The President supposedly said that the unilateral termination of contracts could ruin the relationship between Indonesia and South Korea.

The Military Procurement Mafia

The Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto responded to the statement made by military observer Connie Rahakundini Bakrie on the presence of a mafia in the procurement of military equipment. Prabowo, according to his spokesperson Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, asked the observer to reveal the identity of the mafia and submit a report to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) or the National Police (POLRI).

A New Lawsuit Against Jokowi (2)

The Central Jakarta District Court (PN Jakpus) has on Monday (May 10) decided to postpone the trial of a lawsuit filed by a group of people called Tim Pembela Ulama dan Aktivis or the Ulema and Activist Defender Team (TPUA) against President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo. The TPUA, led by lawyer/activist Eggi Sudjana, demands the President’s resignation.
