Former Military Commander (Panglima TNI) General (ret) Gatot Nurmantyo commented on the sunken Nanggala-402 submarine. He called it a reminder for the Government to modernize the country’s primary weapons system (Alutsista). Interestingly, Gatot said that once he suggested President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to purchase Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets and Kilo Class submarines from Russia.
