The Chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Zulkifli Hasan denied his party had asked for a certain portfolio from President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo. Zulkifli, who is also the deputy speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), said that PAN would accept whatever position given by the President. That said, national media outlets previously reported that PAN was keen on getting the position of Minister of Cooperative & Small-Medium Enterprises (KUKM). If true, one wonders why PAN is interested in the said portfolio?

Speculations continue regarding the possibility of the National Mandate Party (PAN) rejoining President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s ruling coalition. Even though both the ruling coalition and PAN have denied that the latter’s re-entry has to do with the plan of amending the 1945 Constitution, there’s no other explanation why the ruling coalition would accept PAN’s return.

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has repeatedly dismissed the speculations that he would seek a third presidential term. The President has clearly stated that he does not desire a third term. That said, national media outlets have reported another scenario of extending Jokowi’s term.

The Governor of Jakarta Anies Baswedan made significant changes to the management board of PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro), the city’s regional company tasked with handling the Formula E project. The said changes were made in the midst of an interpellation petition against the Governor initiated by the PDIP and the PSI. Interestingly, some of the people that Anies appointed into the board of Jakpro’s commissioners and directors are connected to political parties.

Megawati, who is also the fifth President of the Republic, mentioned the procurement of official uniforms and cars by some regional administrations as examples. Megawati’s statement is worth highlighting in relation to the importance of budgeting reform, which is a concerning issue in the country but remains rarely discussed.

The lawmakers at the Jakarta Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD DKI) from two political parties, PDIP and PSI, have submitted an interpellation petition against Governor Anies Baswedan. The two parties highlighted the Formula E race, urging the Governor to cancel the project.
