PT Djarum Escaped a Trademark Cancellation Lawsuit
PT Djarum Tbk managed to escape unscathed from the trademark cancellation lawsuit filed by Adhi Soebekti and Lie Reza H. Aliwarga, CEO of PT HIN Promosindo. The lawsuit was filed by the plaintiffs on the basis of the need to obtain legal certainty. In addition to suing Djarum as first defendant, the plaintiffs also sued the Directorate of Trademark at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights as the second defendant.
Jakarta’s Transportation Reform
There is an ongoing dispute between the Government of DKI Jakarta (Pemprov DKI) and the Land Transportation Organization (Organda) regarding the operation of Busway-Integrated Border Transport (APTB), and it’s getting serious. This dispute was originally about the manner in which APTB buses operate in the TransJakarta bus lane (busway). Consumers of Transjakarta have to pay an additional fee on board the APTB buses, on top of the Transjakarta flat-rate fee that they have to pay upon entrance. Pemprov DKI is seeking to abolish this double payment.

The name PT Dhiva Inter Sarana (DIS) caught public attention after the management of Bank Internasional Indonesia Tbk (BNII) filed a suit for the former’s bankruptcy in mid-2014. DIS is a company engaged in the trade of pipes for the oil and gas sector. It is one of BII’s debtors that defaulted on a debt worth Rp649,29 billion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp12,000 per US dollar) as per June 5, 2014.

The Government and PT Pertamina agreed to dissolve Pertamina Energy Trading Limited (Petral). Commissioner of Pertamina, Tanri Abeng said that the dissolution would be a part of the initial step for transforming the state-owned oil and gas company. The Minister of State Owned Enterprises (BUMN) and the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) agreed.

Corruption in PT PLN
Investigator of the Jakarta High Prosecutors Office (Kejati) questioned the former Director of the State Electricity Company (PT PLN), Nur Pamuji, as a witness on the case of alleged graft in the construction of 21 PLN substations in Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara worth Rp1,063 billion. Investigators filed 25 questions in search of evidence to prosecute two suspects, Hengky Wibowo and Yusuf Mirand, the Commitment Making Officers (PPK) for the construction project.
