PKPU for Grahalintas Properti

The debt dispute between PT Grahalintas Properti and one of its creditors PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk (BNGA) continues. In the hearing on March 28, 2016, the Panel of Judges of the Commercial Court of the Central Jakarta District Court decided to examine the petition for Suspension of Debts Payment (PKPU) filed by BNGA, having previously declined the PKPU request that Grahalintas had submitted voluntarily.

Revisiting the Hambalang Case: New Dirt on Cikeas?

The discussion on the corruption case related to the controversial Hambalang Sports Complex project reappeared soon after President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo visited the abandoned site of the project. In connection with this development, the former Chairman and Treasurer of SBY’s Democratic Party Anas Urbaningrum and Muhammad Nazaruddin, who are also graft convicts and key witnesses in this case, have recently urged the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to drag down the remaining figures involved in the case.

The End for Udar Pristono?

The Supreme Court (MK) once again increased the sentence slapped on the former Jakarta Head of Department of Transportation Udar Pristono. At the hearing held on March 24, 2016, the Assembly of Cassation decided to grant the appeal filed by the Public Prosecutor of the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) and aggravated Udar Pristono’s punishment. The Assemboy of Cassation also ordered the court to confiscate all of Udar’s assets that have been deemed linked to corruption.

Wawan’s Case and Banten Gubernatorial Election

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) launched another investigation into the involvement of Tubagus Chaeri “Wawan” Wardana—a businessman and brother of former Banten Governor Ratu Atut Chosiyah—in graft. This time the investigation is focused on the suspicion that Wawan had conducted money laundering activities during his sister’s reign in Banten. Separately, the Golkar Party was reportedly considering candidates for the 2017 Banten gubernatorial election, one of them is Ratu Atut’s son. Will the investigation into Wawan affect the dynamics of Golkar in Banten.

PT Suharli Malaya Lestari (SML), a garment company based in West Java still has to fight for their survival. Updates on the PKPU for Meranti Maritime

PT Meranti Maritime, which is currently in the period of Suspension of Debts Payment (PKPU), has once again requested for a 60-day extension to its creditors. The request was conveyed in a move to find time to resolve the status of one creditor that is still debated by the Supervisory Judge. The other creditors reportedly agreed to this request.

Hambalang

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo together with the Minister of Youth and Sports Imam Nahrawi, and the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono visited the site of the ill-fated Hambalang Sports Complex project on March 19, 2016. The President told the press after seeing the site that he would have a discussion with the ministers concerned to talk about continuing now-abandoned project. The question now is whether reviving the construction of the Hambalang Sports Complex is a good idea.
