Foreign tourist arrivals in Indonesia jumped sharply by 1,974 percent year-on-year to 345.4 thousand in June 2022, boosted by further easing of COVID-19 restrictions, intense preparation for the G20 summit later this year, and an expansion of visa-free visits for tourists from ASEAN countries and other 43 countries. The number of arrivals by air in Bali, the center of the Indonesian tourism industry, surged 18,154,400 percent to 181.5 thousand, and those reaching Jakarta climbed 536.4 percent to 85.6 thousand. In addition, the number of arrivals by ship in Batam soared 15,759 percent to 39.6 thousand. For the first six months of the year, tourist arrivals jumped 930 percent to 743.2 thousand.
