The Social Media Front

In November last year, the Median Survey Agency published a surprising report. According to Median, Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and his running mate K.H. Ma’ruf Amin (Jokowi-Amin) were behind in terms of electability from Prabowo Subianto and his running mate Sandiaga Uno (Prabowo-Sandi) in social media platforms. On Facebook the former scored 42.4 percent, and the latter scored 42.9 percent. On Twitter, Prabowo-Sandi score 59.2 percent, while Jokowi-Amin scored 29.5 percent. On Instagram, Prabowo-Sandiaga scored 48.9 percent, while Jokowi-Amin scored 39.1 percent.

Indonesian Students in Taiwan

Indonesian online news outlets reported yesterday on the news that some 300 Indonesian students were forced to work in a factory in Taiwan. A media outlet Taiwan first reported on the news quoting the forced labor allegations made by the Taiwanese politician Ko Chih-en. The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs are still investigating, but speed in finding facts is important given that such news could end up being a dangerous fuel for politics.

The IDD Project Update

The Indonesia Deepwater Development (IDD) gas project has not seen progress despite having been worked on since the years of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. The Government of Joko “Jokowi” Widodo have been meaning to expedite the process, but that has not happened. Chevron Pacific Indonesia’s IDD Project is still stuck on the Plan of Development (POD) review stage.
