Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) revealed on Monday (February 1) that January 2016 inflation was 0.51%, compared to 0.96% in December 2015, mostly contributed by staple food (2.2%). While transportation, communication, and financial services recorded a deflation of 1.11%. The Central Bank (Bank Indonesia/BI) said that January inflation was below projection. Administered prices and relatively low core inflation contributed to lower inflation in the reporting period.
