Sutan Riska Tuanku Kerajaan, regent of Dharmasraya in West Sumatra province, is the youngest regent in Indonesia. He surprised many with landslide victory in 2015 election. Riska won 63% votes, defeating incumbent regent, who was supported by a coalition of Golkar, NasDem, and Democratic Party.

West Sumatra is one of provinces where Jokowi lost with huge margin in 2014 election. He got only 22% votes there. The president will be in West Sumatra Wednesday-Friday for various programs. This week’s visit will be his fourth to the province. Will he get more votes in next year’s election in the province, which is known for its strong religious sentiment?
