Corruption Journal: North Sumatera and Hulu Sungai Tengah Graft Case
We all know that the bribery case in North Sumatera implicating the disgraced governor Gatot Pujo Nugroho caused a lot of damages to the province and had led to several other investigations, including allegation of bribes for the members of the province’s DPRD. Earlier this year, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named 38 new suspects in the case. The suspects were detained in the past week. Separately, in the case of bribery involving the disgraced regent of Hulu Sungai Tengah one Abdul Latif, the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court have read their verdict for the bribee and the intermediary in the case.

The Corruption Court of the Central Jakarta District Court recently listened to the prosecutors’ demands for the former Regent of Hulu Sungai Tengah (HST) Abdul Latif, who was arrested in a Sting Operation back in January 2018. The same court also recently registered a new case with one Made Meregawa as the defendant. Made was convicted in a case related to Nazaruddin’s Permai Group scandal. Apart from the aforementioned trials, we learned that the Regent of Central Lampung one Mustafa was convicted several weeks ago, and yet he remains regent to this day.

The Corruption Court of the Central Jakarta District Court held the first hearing on the trial of the former Regent of Hulu Sungai Tengah (HST) Abdul Latif on May 24, 2018. Abdul stands trial as a suspect of bribery. At the same day, the same court read their verdict for the person who gave the bribes to Abdul Latif. Separately, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) announced the chronology of their latest Sting Operation in Southeast Sulawesi.

Questioning KPK’s Preventive Measures
One week before arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Abdul Latif, regent of Hulu Sungai Tengah in South Kalimantan province, tied knot with young girl Rizkatunnukbah. Latif is regional chapter leader of Partai Berkarya, a political party established and controlled by Tommy Soeharto (son of the late president Soeharto).
