The idea of PKB and PDIP, the two largest parties in East Java, regrouping to pair KH Marzuki Mustamar and Tri Rismaharini to challenge Khofifah Indar Parawansa in this year’s gubernatorial election is in a deadlock because both parties insist on getting a governor candidate position and no one wants to be the running mate. If the deadlock continues, the question is whether PKB and PDIP will nominate their own governor candidate, respectively, and make the East Java gubernatorial election this year into a three-horse race.

This is a bargain game since the coalition for Jakarta election could be related to the establishment of the next administration of Prabowo-Gibran.
