Banten Election: Golkar-PDIP Axis

PDIP ensured that the Party has agreed to form a coalition with Golkar for endorsing Airin Rachmi Diany-Ade Sumardi in the Banten gubernatorial election this year. If the political constellation stays as it is, Airin-Ade will compete head-to-head in a two-horse race...

The Next BNPT Chief?

It’s only a month before Police Comr. Gen. Rycko Amelza Dahniel, the chief of the National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT), enters his mandatory retirement age. Other than Rycko, some other police generals will also enter their mandatory retirement age soon. So, who will get the promotion in the next job rotation?

Democratic Party’s Pick for Regional Elections

It is reported on Wednesday (Jul. 10) that the Chairman of Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), who is also the eldest son of the sixth President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), has officially announced the decision on the candidates the Party will be endorsing in six provinces in the 2024 simultaneous regional elections. Earlier, AHY also announced the Democratic Party’s choice of regional head candidates in five other provinces.

All Up to Prabowo

Prabowo Subianto will likely become a ‘more powerful’ president than the outgoing president Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo. Lawmakers are now drafting or amending laws giving Prabowo more ‘freedom’ to run the country compared to four presidents as products of 1998 reform.

Reinstating DPA: Accommodating Jokowi & Others?

All nine factions of political parties at the House of Representatives’ (DPR) Legislative Body (Baleg) have agreed to bring the Bill on the Revision on the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) Law No. 19/2006 into the next DPR’s plenary session for being approved as a House initiative bill. KPK vs PDIP

The tension continues between the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and PDIP, the largest political party led by the fifth President Megawati Soekarnoputri. The KPK, as we all know, is hunting down Harun Masiku, a PDIP politician who has been a fugitive for four years.

Prabowo’s Strategy in 2024 Regional Elections?

Another two-horse race will likely happen in this year’s gubernatorial election in Banten, home to the supporters of President-elect Prabowo Subianto. Andra Soni-Achmad Dimyati Natakusumah has secured a ticket from a big coalition of seven political parties led by Gerindra, a political party belongs to Prabowo. The contender, Airin Rachmi Diany, has secured the endorsement from Golkar and she’s waiting for additional support from either PDIP or Democratic Party. Whoever wins Banten gubernatorial election this year between Andra and Airin, we can safely say that Prabowo is the real winner because both Andra and Airin as well as political parties behind the two candidates are all his supporters.

Sumatera Election: Awaiting PDIP’s Decision

The latest development in North Sumatera is pointing to a two-horse race in the gubernatorial election that will be held in the province this year. If the political constellation in North Sumatera stays as it is, we might see the mayor of Medan Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution, who is the son-in-law of the outgoing President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, to compete head-to-head against the incumbent Eddy Rahmayadi, a retired three-star army general, or perhaps a governor candidate from PDIP. The decision from PDIP will determine whether the incumbent can secure a ticket to enter the race and who will compete against Bobby in North Sumatera.

PDIP’s New Lineup (2)

Other than Ganjar Pranowo and Basuki Tjahaja Purnama a.k.a Ahok, the matriarch of PDIP Megawati Soekarnoputri included some other new names into the line-up of the PDIP’s Central Executive Body (DPP). One of them is Ganip Warsito, a retired three-star army general and former Staff General of the Indonesian Military (Kasum TNI).
