The newest survey result from the research & development (Litbang) of Kompas, the largest newspaper in Indonesia, shows that Ridwan Kamil’s electability is far above all of his potential contenders in this year’s West Java gubernatorial election. Will this survey result convince Ridwan to stay in the West Java race rather than entering the Jakarta gubernatorial election?

The Thohirs & Prabowo

The Thohirs (Erick Thohir/minister of state-owned enterprises and Garibaldi ‘Boy’ Thohir/co-owner of Adaro Energy) actively supported the campaign of Prabowo-Gibran. Boy was seen organising some public events, including those with Chinese conglomerates, to shore up support for Prabowo. But, a move from Prabowo’s brother Hashim Djojohadikusumo two months ago could be a game changer.

The research & development department (Litbang) of Kompas, the largest newspaper in Indonesia, released the result of electability survey on potential Jakarta governor candidates. Litbang Kompas found Anies Baswedan, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama a.k.a Ahok, and Ridwan Kamil at the top three.

KPK Leadership Selection

The registration of candidates for the new leaders of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the new members of the KPK’s Supervisory Council for 2024-2029 period has been closed a few hours ago. As per last night, at 8:15 pm, a total of 468 candidates have registered at the KPK’s selection committee. Among the candidates, some of them are worth highlighting despite declining independency of the commission.
