VP Ma’ruf on PKB-PBNU Conflict

Vice President (VP) Ma’ruf Amin refuses the request from the Nahdlatul Ulama’s Central Board (PBNU) for a meeting if its only aim is to look for more ammunitions to hit the National Awakening Party (PKB) led by Muhaimin Iskandar. VP Ma’ruf, who is a former Rais A’am (supreme leader) of PBNU, said that he is willing to meet with the PBNU if they ask him to help them address the issues with PKB instead.

Jokoptics from La-La Land

Frustrated with lack of interest from others? Just throw another party! That’s what exactly the outgoing president Jokowi is doing with extravagant independence day celebration in the new capital city (IKN) Nusantara. At all cost!

Kalla, Anies & Jakarta Election

Former Vice President (VP) Jusuf Kalla responded to the current political dynamics in relation to this year’s gubernatorial election in Jakarta. Kalla’s response is worth highlighting because he is widely known as political mentor and patron figure of Anies Baswedan, who is eager to run in the Jakarta election for his re-election. Kalla, moreover, is an influential figure in Indonesian business and politics.

KPK on Bobby-Kahiyang

Political tension is heating up ahead of the 2024 simultaneous regional elections, especially between the outgoing President Jokowi–and his family—and PDIP. Meanwhile, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is open to the possibility of summoning Bobby Afif Nasution, the son-in-law of Jokowi, and his wife, Kahiyang Ayu, who is Jokowi’s daughter, in relation to the case of the then North Maluku Governor Abdul Gani Kasuba (AGK).

Possible Scenarios for Kaesang

Some people may not care about what Kaesang Pangarep will do in politics since they’re losing faith in the outgoing President Jokowi. Like it or not, however, Kaesang’s future in politics is worth highlighting because he’s now at the center of political dynamics between political parties in this year’s gubernatorial elections in some major provinces.

Megawati & Jokowi

The matriarch of PDIP Megawati Soekarnoputri recently talked about her relationship with the outgoing President Jokowi. According to Megawati, her relationship with Jokowi is fine, but she rejects the idea of extending the President’s term or changing the length of presidential term to three periods.

KIM Plus: The Red-and-White Coalition 2.0

What’s happening in this year’s simultaneous regional elections is worth monitoring since it is likely related to the power sharing in the next administration. There have been talks about the KIM Plus scenario, which is the expansion of Prabowo-Gibran’s coalition. If anything, KIM Plus could be the new and advanced version of the so-called Koalisi Merah Putih or the Red-and-White coalition (KMP), the mighty coalition that once supported Prabowo Subianto.

KIM Plus Scenario

There is an interesting development coming from Prabowo-Gibran’s coalition that needs to be highlighted. It might change everything in this year’s simultaneous regional elections, especially in some major provinces such as Jakarta, West Java, and Central Java.

PDIP-PKB Axis (2)

In a previous article, we’ve talked about the importance of monitoring a potential coalition between PDIP and PKB in this year’s simultaneous regional elections. Today, we’ve seen PDIP and PKB indeed formed a joint special team to discuss a coalition between the two parties in the gubernatorial elections in some major provinces.

Jakarta Election: Anies-Ahok Rematch?

It looks like we might see a rematch between Anies Baswedan and Basuki Tjahaja Purnama a.k.a Ahok in this year’s Jakarta gubernatorial election. As mentioned in earlier articles, the existing rules are not compatible for an Anies-Ahok pairing. PDIP is reportedly in talks with PKB to form an axis for endorsing Ahok and pairing him with Ida Fauziah to challenge Anies.
