Power Sharing & the Zaken Cabinet

Power sharing in a political alliance is inevitable. President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and his ruling coalition would have to negotiate. Nevertheless, according to Ahmad Syafii Maarif, the State Agency for Pancasila Education (BPIP) had given the President the suggestion to form a zaken cabinet (business cabinet/professional cabinet), in which Jokowi has sovereignty over choice.

Final Tally

General Election Commission (KPU) has completed calculation of votes in 2019 presidential election at provincial level with the exception of North Sumatra, Jakarta, Riau, Riau Islands, Maluku, West Papua, and Papua. Final tally in these provinces, however, won’t change the overall outcome, i.e. Jokowi wins a second term with a comfortable margin of over 12% or more than 16 million votes.

Sneak Preview of New Legislative (3)

The General Election Commission (KPU) has completed their tally in six more provinces, i.e., Lampung, East Java, Yogyakarta, West Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, and West Sumatera. The ruling party PDIP wins the legislative election in the first four provinces. Golkar and Gerindra, meanwhile, wins in one province respectively.

Cabinet Reshuffle Talks

The Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Bambang Soesatyo, who is also Golkar Party politician, introduced Muhammad Lutfi and Bahlil Lahadalia as ministerial candidates in an iftar gathering with President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, Vice President Jusuf Kalla, and the heads of the State Institutions. Golkar appears to be aggressive in promoting their cadre and associates to Jokowi.

The General Election Commission (KPU) has collected 75% data of recapitulation votes from all around the country, in which showing President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo remain leading over Prabowo Subianto with the margin more than 14 million votes. The KPU has also nearly completed their tally in 7 more provinces. Jokowi wins in five out of the said seven provinces.

2019 Aftermath: TNI/POLRI on the Move

The National Police (POLRI) and the Military (TNI) are on the move. Around 30,000 joint security forces personnels from the TNI/POLRI have been deployed to safeguard the General Election Commission (KPU)’s May 22 2019 general election results announcement. The Police, moreover, has named PAN politician Eggi Sudjana a suspect of treason. The Police has also examined Maj. Gen. (ret) Kivlan Zein in the same case. Both Eggi and Kivlan are big supporters of Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno in 2019 race.
