The National Police (POLRI) continues its effort in finding the masterminds and the financiers behind post-election riot occurred on May 21-22, 2019. The Police is expected to disclose the high-profile figures alleged as the mastermind of the riot today (June 11).
Post-Election Dispute
The national campaign team (BPN) of the losing presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto and his running mate Sandiaga Uno (Prabowo-Sandi) questioned the position of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s running mate KH Ma’ruf Amin in two state-owned sharia banks. Prabowo-Sandi, as mentioned by its lawyer Bambang Widjojanto, seek the disqualification of the incumbent pair from the 2019 presidential race.
Jokowi & SBY
The relationship between President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and his predecessor Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), who is the chairman of the Democratic Party, are in good terms. SBY’s relationship with his predecessor Megawati Soekarnoputri, who is also the chairwoman of the ruling party PDIP, has also warmed up. Some believe that SBY and his Democratic Party will thus jump ship from Prabowo Subianto’s opposition group into the ruling coalition. But will Prabowo let it happen?
The Next Cabinet Talks
Political parties in President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s ruling coalition continues to talk about ministerial candidates they have in stock. On that note, President Jokowi will make another round of cabinet reshuffle before he assembles a new cabinet, and interestingly, the President stated that the reshuffle would take place after the Constitutional Court (MK) read its final ruling on post-presidential election dispute.

The Chief of the National Police (POLRI) General Tito Karnavian revealed the name of the high-ranking State officials that became targets of assassination. The four officials are General (ret) Wiranto, General (ret) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Police General (ret) Budi Gunawan, and Police Comr. Gen. (ret) Gories Mere. They are officials in the inner circle of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.
Prabowo’s Overseas Trips
The losing presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto, who is also the chairman of the largest opposition party Gerindra, went to Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is Prabowo’s second trip overseas in the past two weeks.
Finding the Masterminds & Financiers behind Post-Election Riot
The National Police (POLRI) identified three groups of perpetrators in the May 21-22 riots. One of the said groups involves a retired Army general from the Gerindra Party, the largest opposition party led by the losing presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto. The other group is also led by a Prabowo supporter in the 2019 presidential race. In a related development, two more Prabowo supporters were named suspects of treason and hoax.
Golkar: Power Sharing & Next Cabinet
The Golkar Party, the second largest political party in the country and in President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s ruling coalition, has asked for 4-5 portfolios in the next cabinet and the position of the speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR). In the meantime, as we’ve reported before, a motion launched within the Party demanding leadership change.
