The Chief of the National Search & Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Air Vice Chief Marshal (ret) Bagus Puruhito is one of the busiest men in the country at the moment. He’s commanding the search and rescue operation of the crash of Sriwijaya Air Flight 182 in the waters of Seribu Islands, and he’s also attending to the aftermath of a landslide in Sumedang (West Java), a flood that hit South Kalimantan, and a 6.2 magnitude earthquake that hit West Sulawesi.

Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the chief of the National Police’s Investigation Division (Kabareskrim POLRI), as the sole police chief (Kaopolri) nominee to replace General Idham Azis. The House of Representatives (DPR) will conduct a fit and proper test next week before deciding on whether to accept or reject Listyo Sigit’s nomination. Sriwijaya Air Crash: Investigation & Politics

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has instructed the National Transportation Safety Commission (KNKT) to investigate the crash of Sriwijaya Air Flight 182. On that note, the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Division (Bareskrim POLRI) is currently investigating two passengers of the crashed Sriwijaya Air Flight 182 who allegedly used different identities. The House of Representatives (DPR) Commission V, a commission that oversees transportation, will soon summon the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi for a hearing.
