The Chief of the National Search & Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Air Vice Chief Marshal (ret) Bagus Puruhito is one of the busiest men in the country at the moment. He’s commanding the search and rescue operation of the crash of Sriwijaya Air Flight 182 in the waters of Seribu Islands, and he’s also attending to the aftermath of a landslide in Sumedang (West Java), a flood that hit South Kalimantan, and a 6.2 magnitude earthquake that hit West Sulawesi.

Police Commissioner General (Comr. Gen.) Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the sole police chief (Kapolri) nominee, will undergo a fit and proper test in the House of Representatives (DPR) on Wednesday (Jan. 20). Listyo Sigit’s first challenge, however, is not the said test. He has to win the heart of his colleagues and to make sure that the Police Corps would unite under his command.

The House of Representatives (DPR) has on Thursday (Jan. 14) set 33 bills in the 2021 prioritized national legislation program (Prolegnas). One of the said bills is the amendment of the Election Law No. 7/2017.

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has instructed the National Transportation Safety Commission (KNKT) to investigate the crash of Sriwijaya Air Flight 182. On that note, the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Division (Bareskrim POLRI) is currently investigating two passengers of the crashed Sriwijaya Air Flight 182 who allegedly used different identities. The House of Representatives (DPR) Commission V, a commission that oversees transportation, will soon summon the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi for a hearing.

Tomorrow (Jan. 13), President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo will reportedly send the letter noting the name of his police chief (Kapolri) nominee to the House of Representatives (DPR). The latest speculation is that the President would nominate Police Commissioner General (Comr. Gen.) Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the chief of the National Police’s Investigation Division (Kabareskrim POLRI).
