President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo ordered the new Chief of the National Police (Kapolri) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to remind his ranks to be more selective in processing alleged violations of the Electronics Transaction & Information (ITE) Law No. 11/2008. The President’s order is an indirect response to criticisms, including those of his former Vice President Jusuf Kalla.

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo recently inaugurated the Tukul Dam in Pacitan, East Java. The President said that he will inaugurate three more dams in three different provinces next week. The Tukul Dam is one of 65 dams constructed in Jokowi’s first term. Pacitan is the hometown of Jokowi’s predecessor Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY).

Those Seeking to Reschedule the 2024 Regional Elections
The opposition party PKS and Democratic Party aren’t the only ones favoring a reschedule simultaneous regional elections. Some polling agencies also favor the same outcome. By law, the next simultaneous regional elections are to be held in November 2024. Some want it rescheduled to 2022 and 2023.
Stopping the Maneuvers on the Election Law Amendment Process
The Golkar Party and the Nasdem Party agreed to stop the revision of the Election Law (UU Pemilu) No. 7/2017 at President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s behest. And so all members of the President’s ruling coalition are now united, and with that, the amendment of the Election Law will end. The next simultaneous regional elections will be held in 2024 as mandated by the Regional Election Law (UU Pilkada) No. 10/2016.
