General Moeldoko vs Mayor Agus
General (ret) Moeldoko, the chief of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) and the former commander of the Indonesian Military (TNI), has been elected chairman of the Democratic Party in an extraordinary congress (KLB) held by the Party’s founders. The congress elected Moeldoko to replace Major (ret) Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), the eldest son of the sixth President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY). But since AHY considers the congress illegal, he is likely to face Moeldoko in a legal battle over the party’s leadership.

The Golkar Party will hold its national leadership meeting (Rapimnas) this weekend. In the said Rapimnas, Golkar will discuss some political agendas related to the Party’s preparation ahead of the simultaneous presidential, legislative, and regional elections in 2024.

The founders of the Democratic Party confirmed that they would hold an extraordinary congress (KLB) today (March 5) until Sunday (March 7). The founders, however, kept the location of the congress secret.

West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil is also in the consideration list.

The founders of the Democratic Party continue to prepare for an extraordinary congress (KLB). The plan is to hold the KLB this month with the aim of electing a new chairman to replace Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), the eldest son of the sixth President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY). In a related development, one of the said founders, Jhoni Allen Marbun, who has just been dismissed from the Party, continues to throw dirt at AHY and his father. Jhoni criticizes, among others, AHY’s instant political career and his ineptitude in handling an internal conflict.

Kalla on the Revision of the Election Law
Former Vice President Jusuf Kalla recently talked about the revision of the Election Law (UU Pemilu) No. 7/2017. Kalla, who is also former chairman of Golkar Party, shared his views on the necessity of amending the Election Law. Kalla also wants the schedule of the 2024 simultaneous regional elections to be pushed forward to 2022 and 2023.
