South Sumatera Police Chief & Akidi Tio Donation Case

The Indonesian Police Watch (IPW) urges the Chief of the National Police (Kapolri) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to render inactive and examine the Chief of the South Sumatera Police (Kapolda) Insp. Gen. Eko Indra Heri related to the Rp2 trillion donation from Akidi Tio. Akidi Tio reportedly trusted the donation to Eko Indra Heri to help the South Sumatra province fight the COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, the money remains unclear. Neither General Sigit nor Eko Indra Heri has released a statement.

Dems Accused of Backing Student Movement

The Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s (SBY) Democratic Party, now led by SBY’s eldest son Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), reported the Vice Minister of Villages, Disadvantaged Regions & Transmigration Budi Arie Setiadi to the West Java Police. The Democratic Party reported Budi Arie, who is also the chairman of the Pro-Jokowi (Projo) group, for accusing the Party of backing the student rallies that protested against President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s governance recently. Projo, as we all know, is the largest volunteer group supporting Jokowi.

The pace of vaccination fluctuated in the past three days. Only 353,910 doses of vaccines were administered on Sunday (Aug. 1), far below the target of administering two million doses of vaccines per day set this month. The good news is that yesterday, the Government received 3.5 million doses of Moderna vaccines from the United States (US) through the COVAX facility.

Moeldoko & Accusation on Ivermectin Affiliation

The Chief of the Presidential Staff (KSP) General (ret) Moeldoko, who is also former Military Commander (Panglima TNI), denied the accusation that he’s affiliated with the Ivermectin producer PT Harsen Laboratories. Moeldoko, through his lawyer, issued a subpoena for the Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) for the said accusation.

More than 1.5 million doses of vaccines were administered on Thursday (July 29). It did not just pass the target of one-million-vaccinations-per-day set by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo for this month, but also set the highest record of vaccination since the President kicked off the program on Jan. 13, 2021. It raises optimism that the Government can reach its new target of administering two million doses of vaccines per day set for next month.

The pace of vaccination in the last three days continues to show a good trend. On Tuesday (July 27), the number of vaccines administered passed the target of one-million-vaccinations-per-day set by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo for this month. That said, there are some issues that could slow the pace of vaccination if unsolved.

Abuse Case in Merauke & Papua Security

Military Commander (Panglima TNI) Air Chief Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto is furious with the mistreatment of a deaf Papuan man in Merauke, Papua by two members of the Air Force (TNI AU). Commander Hadi ordered the Air Force Chief of Staff (KSAU) to not only dismiss the said two officers, but also remove the commander of the Johanes Abraham Dimara Air Force Base (Danlanud) and the commander of the Johanes Abraham Dimara’s Military Police (Dansatpom) from their respective position.

The Next Military Commander: Speculations

People continue to speculate on who will become the next Military Commander (Panglima TNI) to replace Air Chief Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto. One can understand why. Commander Hadi only has three months left before his term ends in November 2021. Extending Hadi’s term is not an option for President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo because the Indonesian Military Law (UU TNI) No. 34/2004 does not regulate such a means.

The Army Chief’s Role

The Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General Andika Perkasa is still visiting regions in Central Java and Yogyakarta. He inspected hospitals, including the hospital under the Indonesian Army (TNI AD), and quarantine centers for COVID-19 patients. Andika and his ranks are also preparing the largest joint combat training ever made between the TNI AD and the United States (US) Army, which will be held for two weeks starting Aug. 1, 2021.

Major Police Job Rotation (2)

The Chief of the National Police (Kapolri) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo instituted the largest job rotation that he has ever made since leading the Police Corps (POLRI). The rotation affects 504 high-ranking and middle-ranking police officers with the major changes affecting the positions in the city/regency police offices across the archipelago.
