More than a week has passed since former Commander of the Army’s Strategic Reserves Command (Pangkostrad) Lt. Gen. Dudung Abdurachman became the new Army Chief of Staff (KSAD). The Pangkostrad position remains vacant because President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has not yet appointed Dudung’s successor. Some may not mind that the Pangkostrad position is still vacant. When Jokowi Praises Ganjar & Ridwan Kamil
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo praises the achievement of Central Java and West Java provinces in the investment sector. The President delivered his praise when opening the National Coordination Meeting & the 2021 Investment Services Award at the Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD) on Wednesday (Nov. 24). West Java and Central Java are the largest and the third largest provinces that are led by Governor Ridwan Kamil and Governor Ganjar Pranowo, respectively.

Indonesia’s negotiation with France on the purchase of primary weapons system (Alutsista) has intensified with the visit of French Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian to Jakarta. Le Drian met with the Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto at the Defense Ministry office on Wednesday (Nov. 24). Prior to that, Le Drian met with President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno LP Marsudi, and Coordinating Minister for Maritime & Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan at the State Palace.

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo recently visited Rumpin, a small village in Bogor, West Java. The President inspected a modern nursery along with some foreign ambassadors. The visit is worth highlighting because Maj. Gen. Agus Subiyanto, a territorial commander of the Siliwangi Regional Military Command (Pangdam Siliwangi), was among those who accompanied the President.

The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) is under the spotlight after one of its executives was arrested by the National Police’s Densus 88 Counter-Terrorism Squad for an alleged involvement in a transnational terrorist group Jemaah Islamiyah (JI). JI is responsible for a number of bombings and terrorist attacks in the country. The Jakarta provincial chapter of the MUI (MUI DKI), meanwhile, caused a controversy with its plan to establish a cyber team to, among others, protect the Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.
Andika’s First Job Rotation
The new Military Commander (Panglima TNI) General Andika Perkasa has instituted his first ever job rotation. The rotation affects 23 high-ranking military officers, including two territorial commanders (Pangdam) and the general commander (Danjen) of the Army’s Special Forces Kopassus.
Update on Cabinet Reshuffle
