Nasdem Party, a political party led by media mogul Surya Paloh, finally gave its support for the Bill on the revision of the New Capital City Law (UU IKN) No. 3/2022 to be included into the 2023 National Priority Legislation (Prolegnas). The Bill was proposed by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, and previously Nasdem was the only member of the ruling coalition that decided to abstain.
What’s Next for General Andika?

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has officially nominated the Navy Chief of Staff (KSAL) Admiral Yudo Margono as the next military commander (Panglima TNI) to replace General Andika Perkasa, who will enter his mandatory retirement age on Dec. 21, 2022. The nomination ended all speculations regarding Andika’s successor.

Today, on Nov. 28, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo is expected to submit the name of the military commander (Panglima TNI) nominee to the House of Representatives (DPR). The House Speaker Puan Maharani will reportedly announce the nominee. The question is, who will be the nominee?
A Strong Signal from Jokowi
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo attended a consolidation event of his volunteer groups over the weekend at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium in Senayan, Central Jakarta, where he gave other clues about his successor. Many believe that the clues are pointing to Ganjar Pranowo, Governor of Central Java. The event itself is widely criticized, including from within Jokowi’s ruling coalition, but the signals from Jokowi are more important to digest.
Prabowo-Jokowi’s Pairing Idea Revived
Law expert Yusril Ihza Mahendra, who is also the chairman of the Islamic party PBB, suggested Prabowo Subianto to run with President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo as a running mate if the retired general wants to win the 2024 presidential race. The President, however, has repeatedly stressed that he won’t run again in 2024.

Ganjar Pranowo won a majority vote in the so-called Musyawarah Rakyat (Musra), a convention held by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s volunteer groups, in South Sulawesi province. In a similar convention held in Banten, Ganjar was trailing behind Airlangga Hartarto with a thin margin. Both Banten and Makassar provinces are known as the strongholds of Prabowo Subianto.
