The ruling party PDIP has scheduled to hold its National Working Meeting (Rakernas) on June 6-8, 2023. This upcoming Rakernas is truly worth highlighting because there is a possibility of Megawati Soekarnoputri announcing the running mate for Ganjar Pranowo in the 2024 presidential race.

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo held a meeting with the Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto, who is also the chairman of Gerindra Party, at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Thursday (May 25). The meeting is worth highlighting in light of the 2024 presidential election, especially because Prabowo is one of the two frontrunners in the race alongside Ganjar Pranowo.

The meeting of the National Mandate Party (PAN) held at its headquarters last night (May 23) failed to reach an agreement on whether the Party will endorse Ganjar Pranowo or Prabowo Subianto in the next year’s presidential election. However, some of the Party’s leaders came up with the idea of nominating a new presidential-vice presidential pairing.

Litbang Kompas, the research division of Kompas, the largest newspaper in the country, has just released its latest electability survey of presidential candidates who may be competing in the next year’s presidential election. They found that Ganjar Pranowo, a presidential candidate from the ruling party PDIP, was still the frontrunner in a three-horse race, but Prabowo has narrowed the gap significantly.

The 2024 Legislative Election

Litbang Kompas, the research division of Kompas, the largest newspaper in the country, has just released its latest survey on electability of political parties competing in next year’s legislative election. It found improvements for PDIP, Gerindra, PAN, and PPP, while Golkar, Democratic Party, NasDem, PKS, and PKB were on the decline.

Today, on May 23, National Mandate Party (PAN), a member of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s ruling coalition, will hold an internal meeting at its headquarters in South Jakarta. The Party will reportedly announce its endorsement for a presidential candidate in 2024 race. Interestingly, the chairman of PAN Zulkifli Hasan, who is also the minister of trade, has just met with President Jokowi at the State Palace yesterday (May 22).

Prabowo’s Meeting with SBY

The Chairman of Gerindra Party Prabowo Subianto, who is also the minister of defense, finally met with former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), who is the supreme leader of Democratic Party. The meeting is worth highlighting in light of 2024 race, and many people are wondering whether the meeting went well or not.
