Golkar’s Coalition on the Verge

The so-called Koalisi Indonesia Bersatu (KIB) led by the Golkar Party is on the verge of breaking apart. The Coalition is scheduled to hold a meeting tonight (April 27). Will the meeting be able to keep the coalition intact to endorse one presidential candidate, or will they break apart?

The Train Moves Faster (2)

The United Development Party (PPP), member of Jokowi’s ruling coalition, has formally joined three other political parties led by PDI-P in nominating Central Java governor Ganjar Pranowo as its president candidate in 2024 election.

2024 Political Constellation

Today, April 26, the United Development Party (PPP) is expected to announce the presidential candidate that the Party will endorse in 2024 race. The National Mandate Party (PAN), meanwhile, signaled a joint-force with the ruling party PDIP to endorse Ganjar Pranowo.

Prabowo’s Political Safari

Prabowo Subianto is arguably the busiest man in Indonesian politics now. Ever since the ruling party PDIP announced Ganjar Pranowo as presidential candidate, Prabowo held a meeting here and there with many influential figures in the moment of Lebaran (Eid al-Fitr).

The Race to Become Ganjar’s Running Mate

The GP Ansor proposes Erick Thohir, the minister of state-owned enterprises (SOEs), and the other three figures to become the running mate for Ganjar Pranowo, who has been nominated by the ruling party PDIP as presidential candidate. It’s worth noting that GP Ansor is the youth-wing organization of the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), the largest Islamic organization in Indonesia.

Possible 2024 Political Constellation

The Secretary General of the ruling party PDIP, Hasto Kristiyanto, sent a signal about a potential coalition between PDIP and PPP to endorse Ganjar Pranowo. Prabowo Subianto (Gerindra), meanwhile, is in intensive talks with Airlangga Hartarto (Golkar).

Sandiaga’s Maneuver (4)

After a long time of speculations, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno finally tendered his resignation from Gerindra, a political party led by Prabowo Subianto. Many believe that Sandi’s resignation is a move to boost his chance at entering 2024 race.

Prabowo may be Key to 2024 Race

It appears that Prabowo Subianto, the chairman of Gerindra Party, is not willing to become a running mate for Ganjar Pranowo, who has been nominated by the ruling party PDIP as presidential candidate. Will Prabowo face Ganjar in the 2024 presidential race? Will we see a three-horse race in 2024, assuming Anies Baswedan will have a ticket as well?

The train moves faster

Pretty much as predicted, the train moved faster within 24 hours since PDI-P formally declared Ganjar Pranowo as its president candidate. Some might have wondered whether President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo was caught by surprises with PDI-P chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri’s decision to announce the nomination hours before the end of fasting month Ramadhan.

Ganjar Finally

Ending years of speculation, Ganjar Pranowo, governor of Central Java, has on Friday (Apr 21) officially been nominated president candidate in 2024 election by PDI-P chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri.
