Lingkaran Survei Indonesia (LSI) or the Indonesian Survey Circle, led by Denny JA, came out with some interesting findings from its latest electability survey on the three most popular presidential candidates for the 2024 presidential election. The findings can help us understand the political map ahead of 2024 race.

Jokowi’s Latest Statement

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo held a meeting on Monday (May 29) with a number of editor-in-chiefs and content creators at the State Palace Jakarta. In the meeting, the President stated that he will not hesitate to be part of efforts to influence outcome of the 2024 presidential race for the sake of the country. Let’s talk a bit about Jokowi’s statement.

Puan on Megawati-Prabowo Meeting

House Speaker Puan Maharani, who is the daughter of Megawati Soekarnoputri, has confirmed that her mother will soon meet with Prabowo Subianto and the other party chairmen. Puan delivered the statement in Solo, Central Java, after a meeting with Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who is the eldest son of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.

2024 Race Dynamics (29)

The three presidential candidates (assuming all of them will get the ticket to the race) were busy with their political safari over the weekend. Ganjar Pranowo visited Banten, while Anies Baswedan visited East Java province. Prabowo Subianto, on the other hand, attended an event in Jakarta.

The Upcoming Rakernas of PDIP

The ruling party PDIP has scheduled to hold its National Working Meeting (Rakernas) on June 6-8, 2023. This upcoming Rakernas is truly worth highlighting because there is a possibility of Megawati Soekarnoputri announcing the running mate for Ganjar Pranowo in the 2024 presidential race.

Jokowi-Prabowo Meeting

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo held a meeting with the Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto, who is also the chairman of Gerindra Party, at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Thursday (May 25). The meeting is worth highlighting in light of the 2024 presidential election, especially because Prabowo is one of the two frontrunners in the race alongside Ganjar Pranowo.

On Prabowo’s Plan to Meet with Megawati

The key leaders of Gerindra Party are debating whether their party chairman, Prabowo Subianto, should meet with Megawati Soekarnoputri, the chairperson of the ruling party PDIP. Some of them think that the meeting is necessary, while others believe it will be a waste of time.

Airlangga-Muhaimin Meeting (2)

Airlangga Hartarto, the chairman of Golkar Party, has once again met with Muhaimin Iskandar, the chairman of PKB, on Wednesday (May 24). The meeting is worth highlighting in light of 2024 race, especially in relation to a big question on who between Airlangga and Muhaimin that will become the running mate of Prabowo Subianto, a presidential candidate from Gerindra Party.

A vote for continuation of Jokowi’s program

So, Prabowo Subianto might win a two-horse race against Ganjar Pranowo, while Anies Baswedan will unlikely enter the second round in a three-horse race. That’s among key takeaways from the latest survey by Litbang Kompas, research division of Kompas, the largest newspaper in the country.

PAN: The Twist

The meeting of the National Mandate Party (PAN) held at its headquarters last night (May 23) failed to reach an agreement on whether the Party will endorse Ganjar Pranowo or Prabowo Subianto in the next year’s presidential election. However, some of the Party’s leaders came up with the idea of nominating a new presidential-vice presidential pairing.
