Updates on Dewi Yasin Limpo’s Bribery Case
The hearing on the alleged bribery involving the former Hanura politician Dewi Yasin Limpo continues. The Corruption Court of the Central Jakarta District Court held a hearing to read out the charges against two of five defendants on March 10, 2016, while the trial against Dewi and the other defendants are still in progress.
Not the End for Alex Usman
A year has passed since the start of the trial on the case of alleged corruption in the procurement of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) involving the former Head of Facilities and Infrastructures Unit of Secondary Education Department of the Municipality of West Jakarta Alex Usman. Alex has finally been convicted and sentenced to six years. But this is not the end for him.
Suspect on the Airfast Fake Flight Approval Case
The National Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) finally named one suspect in the case of alleged falsification of documents against PT Airfast Indonesia. The police promised that it would not stop at investigating an individual; that Airfast’s involvement in the case will continue to be investigated. In connection with this case, the Ministry of Transportation has issued a new flight permit for Airfast after the previous permit was suspended as punishment.
Jakarta MRT and the Dispute between Shimizu and Dextam
The Government began looking for eligible contractors for the construction of Jakarta Mass Rapid Transport (Jakarta MRT) three years ago. Since then, agreements have been signed but construction has not been in line with expectations. One of the problems MRT Jakarta has to face is the legal problem involving Shimizu Construction Co. Ltd. (Shimizu) with its former local partner PT Dextam Contractors (Dextam).
Mobile-8 Case & Question of Hary Tanoe’s Future
The Attorney General Office (AGO) summoned the media mogul Hary Tanoesoedibjo on Thursday (Mar. 10) for questioning in connection with the investigation into the fraudulent tax restitution of PT Mobile-8 Telecom Tbk (Mobile-8). But unfortunately, Hary Tanoe could not answer the summon because he’s out of town. Hary Tanoe asked the AGO to reschedule the questioning until the fourth week of March.
Corruption in the Airlangga University Hospital
The investigation into the case of alleged corruption in the procurement of medical equipment for the Tropical Infectious Hospital at the University of Airlangga continues. The KPK has named two suspects. The former Minister of Health Siti Fadilah Supari was summoned in her capacity as a witness after she failed to answer two previous summons.
Updates on Pelindo II Crane Procurement Case
The Directorate of Specific Economic Crime (Dittipideksus) of the Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) finally named a new graft suspect in the allegedly fraudulent procurement of mobile cranes at PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II (Pelindo II). Meanwhile, the indictment of the previously named suspect would soon be completed and forwarded to prosecution.
The Dispute over the Management of Halim Perdanakusuma
PT Angkasa Transportindo Selaras (ATS), a subsidiary of Lion Air Group finally won the dispute against PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) (APII) related to the management of Halim Perdanakusuma Airport. The Supreme Court (MA) declined APII’s application for Reconsideration (PK), effectively recognizing ATS as the manager of the airport.
Runaway Labora
Labora Sitorus—a police officer in Raja Ampat, Papua convicted of illegal logging, fuel hoarding and money laundering—surrendered himself to the police on March 7, 2016 after fleeing on March 4, 2016. Labora ran away just before the authorities moved him to the Cipinang penitentiary in Jakarta.
BCA v. Jakub Sugiarto Sutrisno
The land certificate forgery dispute of PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) against Jakub Sugiarto Sutrisno and two of his legal representatives Timotius Tumbur Simbolon and Jemmy Mokolensang continues. Jakub was found guilty in 2015, but the trial against Timothy and Jemmy is still ongoing. This is a very convoluted case.
