The End of SMS Cartel?
The eight-year-old case on alleged cartel practices in determination of short message service (SMS) rates entered a new phase. On February 29, 2016 the Supreme Court (MA) finally received the appeal filed by the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU). The 5 companies who were found guilty of conducting cartel practices are required to comply with the punishment given by the KPPU.
New Suspects in Damayanti’s Case
The examination of the bribery case related to the Trans-Seram road project in the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (Kemen-PUPR), involving the member of the House Commission V of the House of Representatives Damayanti Wisnu Putranti of PDI-P, continues. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named two new suspects.
The T-Tower Case, Tri Wiyasa and the AGO’s Weak Performance
The Corruption Court in Bandung acquitted the former Head of the General Division of PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Barat and Banten Tbk (BJBR) Wawan Indrawan, the main suspect in the fraudulent procurement of office space in the T-Tower building. On March 1, 2016 the South Jakarta District Court granted the pre-trial petition filed by the other suspect in the case mentioned, namely the Director of PT Comradindo Lintasnusa Perkasa (CLP) Tri Wiyasa.
Riau Forest Conversion Case Continues
The investigators at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) raided the residence of Edison Marudut Marsadauli Siahaan on March 1, 2016. Edison, who is a businessman and a cadre of the Democratic Party, is involved in the bribery case related to the conversion of forest land that had ensnared the disgraced Governor of Riau Annas Maamun.
Kutilang Paksi Mas’ PKPU, Tanri Abeng & Energy Reform
Kutilang Paksi Mas has submitted their peace proposal to escape bankruptcy filed by two of its creditors, namely HSBC Indonesia and Citibank NA. The case is interesting for lots of reasons, including politics and policy making in energy sector, and efforts from energy and mineral resources ministry to reform the industry.

The process of Suspension of Debt Payment (PKPU) for PT Kutilang Paksi Mas (KPM) continues. KPM has submitted their peace proposal to the creditors. Even though the proposal has been revised a couple of times, some creditors still have not yet agreed to the terms proposed.
The End for Ilham Arief?
The trial on the case of alleged corruption involving the former Mayor of Makassar Ilham Arief Sirajudin is finally over. The panel of judges at the Corruption Court of Central Jakarta District Court decided to sentence Ilham to 4 years in prison with the obligation to pay a fine of Rp100 million subsidiary 1 month imprisonment. In addition, Ilham was also ordered to pay compensation amounting to Rp150 million.

AAA Investment Escaped Bankruptcy
PT Andalan Artha Advisindo Investment (AAA Investment) has a reason to celebrate. The financial management company once again escaped from bankruptcy after the peace proposal put forward to its creditors was accepted. In the meeting of creditors on February 25, 2016, all 20 creditors of AAA present said they agreed to the provisions stipulated in the peace proposal.
Updates on the Case of Best Buy Indonesia v. MNC
The debt dispute between PT Best Buy Home Shopping Indonesia (Bbuy) and PT Media Nusantara Citra Tbk (MNC) continues. The Central Jakarta Commercial Court should have decided on a peace agreement between Bbuy and its creditors on February 24, 2016. But the reading of the decision was postponed because MNC applied for refusal of decision at the same day.
