KPK Named Marthen Tome as Suspect

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has again named the Regent of Sabu Raijua in East Nusa Tenggara Marthen Dira Tome as a suspect in the corruption of education funds. Marthen previously filed for a pre-trial, and his petition was accepted by the court in May 2016. Many then predicted that Marthen would go through what the former Mayor of Makassar Ilham Arief Sirajuddin went through—the KPK again named him as a suspect. That said, the KPK do not immediately rename all “former suspects” as a suspect. The former Director General of Taxation Hadi Poernomo, for example, was not renamed as a suspect after he won his pretrial.

Updates on Rohadi’s Case

The trial of Rohadi, the former Registrar of North Jakarta District Court who was arrested on accounts of bribery, is still ongoing. What started as a small-scale bribery case has turned into a case through which corrupt practices within the judicial body are unveiled. The KPK discovered Rohadi’s fantastic wealth and several names were mentioned during his trial.
