Updates on Patrialis Akbar’s Case
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK)’s investigation into the bribery case implicating the Justice of the Constitutional Court Patrialis Akbar continues. After conducting a Sting Operation (OTT) on January 25, 2017, the KPK named 4 suspects in the bribery case, one of whom is Patrialis Akbar. Since then, the Constitutional Court had decided to temporarily suspend Patrialis from his position. But the two main suspects of the case have declined the allegations made against them.
Updates on the E-KTP Graft Case
Slowly but surely, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) progresses in their investigation into the allegation of graft in the procurement of electronic identity card (e-KTP) in the period of 2011-2012. After examining the Golkar Chairman and Speaker of the House of Representatives Setya Novanto, the KPK examined the former leader of the Budget Committee Olly Dondokambey, who is now the Governor of North Sulawesi. Then again, the KPK has not been able to announce any new suspect in this case.
Basuki Hariman
In addition to arresting Constitutional Court Justice Patrialis Akbar on January 25, 2017, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) also arrested a businessman by the name of Basuki Hariman. The Flawed Justice
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a Sting Operation (OTT) on January 25, 2017 in 3 separate places in Jakarta. Eleven individuals were arrested. The KPK later informed the press that the arrests were made in connection to a bribery case involving a Justice of the Constitutional Court. After a day of examination, the KPK announced that the bribery is related to a Judicial Review of Law No. 41/2014 concerning Animal Husbandry and Animal Health, the result of which was supposed to be read today on January 27, 2017. The KPK later named 4 suspects including Justice Patrialis Akbar.
Patrialis Akbar Arrested, Next?
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has arrested Patrialis Akbar, judge at the Constitutional Court, for an alleged bribery in relation to a judicial review case. Patrialis, then executive of National Mandate Party (PAN), was minister of law and human rights in the period of October 2009-October 2011.

Update on AKR Corporindo v. Kapuas Tunggal Persada
PT AKR Corporindo Tbk (AKRA) filed a bankruptcy lawsuit against its business partner PT Kapuas Tunggal Persada (KTP), the subsidiary of PT Mutiara Bara Energy, since December 2016 over a debt dispute worth Rp19.63 billion. In the petition, AKRA mentioned several other creditors. But KTP recently claimed that they do not recognize the other creditors in the petition.
Freeport & Regulatory Changes: Standstill?
“For each month of delay in obtaining approval to export, PT-FI’s share of production is projected to be reduced by approximately 70 million pounds of copper and 100 thousand ounces of gold,” Freeport McMoRan, owner of PT Freeport Indonesia (PT-FI), said in its full year 2016 report regarding its future operations in Indonesia following regulatory changes issued two weeks ago. Update on Benny Tjokro v. Goldman Sachs
Four months have passed since the stock trader Benny Tjokrosaputro filed a lawsuit at the South Jakarta District Court against Goldman Sachs International and two other parties. Benny’s shares in PT Hanson International Tbk (MYRX) had allegedly been sold by the parties accused without Benny’s consent. In the hearing held on January 24, 2017, Goldman Sachs International filed their answer to the lawsuit and along with it the firm filed a counter-lawsuit.
