Lawsuit against Milany Terianto

On March 8, 2019, the Central Jakarta District Court registered a lawsuit filed by a contractor against one Milany Terianto and one other defendant. The plaintiff in the case demands Milany to pay a compensation of a little less than Rp2 billion. This amount is small considering Milany’s professional background.

One of the KPK’s Internal Dispute Resolved

In September 2018 we reported that the employees of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) had filed a lawsuit against their leaders. The lawsuit was filed after the employees held a protest on August 2018. Two days after the lawsuit was filed, another similar lawsuit was filed. The Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN Jakarta) has rejected to second lawsuit following an out-of-court settlement process.

On the second week of December 2018, the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) declared the Savings and Loan Cooperative Union JASA (Kospin JASA) guilty of not notifying their corporate action—acquisition of shares owned by PT Asuransi Takaful Umum—on time. Two weeks before that, the KPPU also declared PT Nippon Indosari Corpindo Tbk (ROTI) guilty of a similar violation. The two companies filed objections to different district courts and recently the KPPU announced that the district courts had ruled in favor of the KPPU. Earlier this year, the South Jakarta District Court also ruled in favor of the KPPU in response to the objection filed by Petronas Carigali (PC) Muriah Ltd (subsidiary of Petronas International Corporation Ltd) and PC Ketapang II Ltd (subsidiary of Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd), who were deemed guilty of violating Art. 22 of Law No. 5/1999 in the provision of under water services for Kepodang and Ketapang Field.

Eddy Sindoro’s Verdict and Lucas’ Trial

After nearly three months of trial, the Corruption Court of the Central Jakarta District Court finally read the verdict for Eddy Sindoro, who’s standing trial for his involvement in the case of bribery implicating the Lippo Group. Eddy was found guilty. Separately, the prosecutors of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) read their demands for Lucas, the advocate who is standing trial for allegedly helping Eddy Sindoro escape the KPK’s inquisition.

Lawsuit against Prabowo

Djohan Teguh Sugianto has filed a lawsuit against former business partner Prabowo Subianto, who is also president candidate in April 17 election, related to the default of payment for the acquisition of shares in Nusantara International Enterprise (L) Berhad, a company based in Labuan tax haven, Malaysia, many years ago.

The Latest on Meikarta Bribery Case : Verdicts for the Bribers

The trial of the four bribers in the case of corruption involving Billy Sindoro and the former Regent of Bekasi one Neneng Hassanah Yasin has reached the end. In the evening of March 5, 2019, the Corruption Court of the Bandung District Court read the verdicts for the defendants.

The Latest on the Corruption in Central Kalimantan

The trial of the suspects of corruption involving PT Binasawit Abadi Pratama (BAP) and several members of the Central Kalimantan Regional Representative Council (DPRD) continues. The prosecutors of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) had read their demands for the alleged bribers and recently they read their defense plea. The trial of the bribees, on the other hand, will start soon.

The Latest on the Corruption in North Konawe

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is investigating the allegations of graft in the granting of mining licenses involving the former Regent of North Konawe one Aswad Sulaiman. The KPK recently summoned several parties to be examined as witnesses.

The Latest on Problems around Bayan Resources

Back in January 2019 we reported on two ongoing legal proceedings involving PT Bayan Resources Tbk (BYAN) and its subsidiaries. The proceedings are being examined by a court in Indonesia and a court in Singapore. The examination in Singapore is ongoing. Recently the Jakarta State Administrative High Court (PTTUN Jakarta) ruled in favor of BYAN’s subsidiaries and upheld the verdict of the Samarinda State Administrative Court (PTUN Samarinda). The problem did not end there. The Company’s other subsidiary must face a lawsuit filed by it’s labor union. There is also the force majeure problem that have forced the company to halt its operation.

On the Bakamla Graft Case: New Corporate Suspect

The Corruption Court of the Central Jakarta District Court convicted the last defendant in the corruption scheme involving officials of the Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla) back in November 2018. The KPK continued the investigation after that and named a new suspects a month after the last trial ended. We notice that the KPK may have changed its target to politicians mentioned in the trials. But not only that, the KPK also keen to target the companies involved in graft suspect and this time, related to this case, the KPK named PT Meriel Esa as the corporate suspect.
