There’s been an interesting development in Golkar. The participants of the national leadership meeting (Rapimnas) that Aburizal “Ical” Bakrie’s Golkar held at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) over the weekend called for the Party to hold an extraordinary chairmanship congress (Munaslub). Bakrie himself said that he would not run for the chairmanship and also asked Agung Laksono to do the same. Agung’s faction, meanwhile, has been busy urging Golkar’s transitional leadership led by Jusuf Kalla and BJ Habibie to hold a chairmanship congress (Munas). Agung said he would not run for the chairmanship if Bakrie were to do the same. And so it’s either going to be a Munas or a Munaslub. To subscribe please click here
