Jakarta’s gubernatorial election will not be until 2017. But in politics, two years is a short period of time. For now, we know that Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama is seeking his second term. Several names have been mentioned as likely contenders, but at least one of them seems to be the most prepared likely-candidate. Though Sandiaga “Sandy” Uno has not publicly and formally announced his gubernatorial bid, a group of volunteers called “Sahabat Sandiaga Uno” (Sandiaga Uno’s Besties or SSU) has already emerged to support his candidacy.
