We published an article in December 2013, posing a question that many had asked, “Will Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono (Ibas) face the same fate as Hutomo Mandala Putra (Tommy Soeharto)?” Both figures have similarities. They’re both the youngest of their siblings and sons of Presidents. Ibas is the youngest son of the Sixth President of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and Tommy is the youngest son of the Second President Soeharto. Like Tommy, Ibas’ name has been mentioned in scandalous cases. Tommy, however, has had to face societal wrath and imprisonment soon after his father’s fall from grace.
