Foreign tourist arrivals in Indonesia increased by 33.27% year-on-year to 978.5 thousand in October 2023, amid a sustained recovery in the tourism sector. International arrivals mostly came from Malaysia (5.66%), China (279.55%), and Australia (38.56%). Considering the first ten months of the year, tourist arrivals surged 124.30% from the same period of the previous year to 9.49 million. The Southeast Asian nation has set a target of more than 7 million visitors this year. In 2022, tourist arrivals surged 251.3 percent to 5.47 million, easily exceeding the government’s target of 3.6 million visitors, buoyed by an improvement in global travel.
