Motorbike sales in Indonesia surged 113.4 percent year-on-year to 529.7 thousand units in May 2023, rebounding sharply from a 19.4% plunge in the previous month, as domestic demand recovered after a fasting month of Ramadan and activity was back to normal following the Eid-ul Fitr holidays. In the first five months of the year, motor sales grew by 38.8 percent to 2.7 million units from the same period in 2022. The Association of Indonesia Motorcycle Industry expects domestic sales to rise to around 5.6 – 5.8 million units in 2023.
