The National Awakening Party (PKB) and the United Development Party (PPP) came up with an idea to form an axis of Islamic parties for the 2024 presidential election. PKB and PPP are strongly affiliated with the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), the largest Islamic organization in Indonesia. Note that an axis of Islamic parties has never materialized in the history of Indonesian politics.
