After a long debate and voting, Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin is finally elected as the new speaker of the Regional Representatives Council (DPR) for 2024-2029 period. Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin, who is strongly linked to Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s (SBY) Democratic Party, defeated La Nyalla Mattalitti, the previous speaker of DPD, in the voting.
