Five years ago, in the presidential candidate debate ahead of the 2019 election, presidential candidate Joko “Jokowi” Widodo boasted of his administration’s achievements, that his administration had not issued permits for the use of very large land areas enjoyed by a handful of business actors, thereby showing his support for the people. On that occasion, Jokowi mentioned that Prabowo, his then contender, was one of the citizens who controlled a very large area of land, reaching 350,000 hectares in total, in Aceh and Kalimantan. We know what happened after that, Prabowo willingly joined Jokowi’s administration and became Minister of Defense. Five years later, several days ago, Anies Baswedan (presidential candidate endorsed by NasDem, PKS and PKB) used the same information in the latest presidential candidate debate to attack Prabowo. Unfortunately, this attack did not have good results for Anies.
