Muhammadiyah, the second largest muslim organization in Indonesia, will kick off its Muktamar (chairmanship congress) tomorrow (Nov 18) in Surakarta, Central Java. The location of the Muktamar is interesting because Surakarta is the hometown of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, who is expected to open the event. Some wonder whether it is a sign that the next chairman of Muhammadiyah will be someone close to the President.
