National car sales (wholesale) jumped 123.5% year on year (y/y) to 83,319 units in August 2021, while in August 2020, it contracted 58.8%. Compared to July 2021 (month-to-month), national car sales grew 25%. People made a huge purchase in August 2021 as the end month of tax discount or incentives for luxury goods (PPnBM), the implementation of the restriction of public mobility or activity (PPKM) during July, also supported by the economic improvement.
