The two largest Muslim organizations in Indonesia, the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) and the Muhammadiyah, continue to urge the Central Government and the House of Representatives (DPR) to delay the 2020 simultaneous regional elections out of concern for the safety of the public during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Central Government and the DPR, meanwhile, believe that regional elections have to go on schedule.
