As reported, Achmad Purnomo, who is a PDIP politician and vice mayor of Surakarta, had withdrawn his mayoral bid. With that, the eldest son of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka is likely to become PDIP’s mayor candidate in the 2020 Surakarta city election. The other political parties would thus compete for the running mate position. The Golkar Party recently proposed its cadre Razali Ismail Ubit as Gibran’s running mate.
