Shares of Medco Energy (MEDC) gained only slightly by 0.73% this morning on reports about possible acquisition of London-listed Ophir Energy Plc. On Monday, shares of Ophir Energy jumped 7.53% on London Stock Exchange (LSE) to make a market capitalization of 252.5 million pound sterling.

Energy Equity Sengkang’s Thoughts on Its Future

Energy Equity Epic (Sengkang) Pty. Ltd (a subsidiary of Hong-Kong-based Energy World Corporation or EWC) has bagged the approval of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) for an extension of its contract in the Sengkang Block, South Sulawesi. The Company, however, appears pessimistic that it would be able to meet its production target this year.

The Ministry of Environment and Forestry has won their lawsuit against PT National Sago Prima. The Company must pay for the ecological damages caused by the forest fire in 2014 in the Meranti Islands of the Province of Riau. The Supreme Court (MA) made the ruling on December 17, 2018, but the details on their decision has not yet been published.

New BNPB Chief?

This morning (of Jan. 2, 2019), President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo was supposed to make Lieutenant General Doni Monardo the new Chief of the National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB) to replace the retired Rear Admiral Willem Rampangilei, but the event has been postponed. The State Secretary Pratikno told the Press that the President was to attend an event in Lampung instead. The President’s Staffer Johan Budi confirmed the postponement. But since the news has spread, and given that Johan Budi confirmed the postponement, let’s consider General Doni Monardo’s likely job change.
