Indonesian entities have officially controlled 51% shares of PT Freeport Indonesia, one of the world’s largest copper and gold producers. Payments have been made by INALUM, state-owned mining giant, to Freeport McMoRan and Rio Tinto Plc for their respective shares. President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo, meanwhile, can enter next year’s election with something to tell.

PT Indonesia Asahan Alumina (INALUM) is to finalize the payment for the shares of PT Freeport Indonesia this afternoon. The Government has revoked the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) Regulation No. 175/2018 on the management of hazardous waste for it was supposedly hampering the divestment process.

TGB Joins Golkar

Yesterday evening, Golkar Chairman Airlangga Hartarto announced the former governor of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) TGH Muhammad Zainul Majdi a.k.a Tuan Guru Bajang (TGB) as a new member of the Golkar Party. Golkar has put TGB in charge of religious community affairs. He’s also a deputy chief of Golkar’s election team. TGB’s role in Golkar makes sense given that he is also known as a cleric with good relations in Islamic political circles. Vice President Jusuf Kalla was also present at the event held in the Dharmawangsa Hotel, South Jakarta.
