The Future of the Corridor Block

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has promised certainty on the future of the Corridor Block this month. South Sumatera’s Corridor Block is one the Big Three Blocks (the other two being the Mahakam Block and the Masela Block). ConocoPhillips’ contract on the Corridor Block is to expire in 2023, and so the hope is that the Government will provide clarity on whether or not to extend said contract.

Global stocks extended falls on Monday (Dec. 17) on mounting signs of slowing global growth and as Fed is widely expected to raise rates on Wednesday. Wall Street’s Dow Jones fell 2.1%, the S&P 500 went down 2.1%, and the Nasdaq declined 2.3%. Concerns over the possible United States (U.S.) government shutdown also added to the pressure.

State-owned miner Aneka Tambang (ANTM) obtained credit facility of US$82 million from Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) with the aim to support the refinancing of ANTM A-Series Bond as well financing its capital expenditure (capex) this year. The investment credit facility has a repayment period of seven years and bears an interest rate of LIBOR 3 Month + 2.0%. The current LIBOR rate is 2.77%.
